Do Wants:
-Incremental level cap. I'm sorry but its necessary. If everyone can get to level 100 in the initial campaign then everyone level 80-100 will whine about how there's no high level content and how easy everything is.
-Abolition of the customization system or at least the option to uncustomize.
-Better AI for our "Companions" and better controls. Hero AI is really annoying and they often do things you don't expect. Companion AI needs to be a huge step up and the controls should have a few more options.
-Smaller areas in the persistent environments. Large persistent environments make getting places harder and make the likelyhood of seeing another group small.
-Loot scaling in high-end instances. *lol* It would be helpful because if 12 people(that should be the limit in dungeons) are hacking away at a monster the loot shouldn't go to whomever loots the corpse first. Instances with more people will get more loot and don't you want more people in difficult areas?
-more generic skills. I really like GWEN's PvE only skills. They add utility to every profession thus giving everyone more versatility.
Do Not Want:
-the current form of Survivor. It stinks and needs to be fixed.
-Penny-ante reputation grind. I'm tired of killing foes to get 1 rep point when I need thousands of points to get to the next level.
-low end vanity armor: I kinda liked having some fuctionality built into my armor. Insignia give you greater versatility but they can be too expensive for the beginning player.
-the current storage system. Its been vastly improved but could still use alot of work. Armor storage is a must!!
-Hero battles. They're dumb. *lol*

Do want:
-Better PvP reward system.
-TA ladder and generally more support for that game type.
-More skills that reward skill and insight. See bull's strike, diversion, gale, etc.
-Reworked assassins with no shadow stepping or long attack chains (in case they are included in GW2).
Do NOT want:
-Main focus on PvE content.
-Itemization.
-"Everything must be viable."
-Racial abilities. I don't want to find out that "race x is the best for profession y".
-Titles.

>building relaitionships with npc's to reap rewards and disadvatages [e.g bcome frined of npc x to get discount from his shop but get increased item values by his foe npc y], npc's changing location and jobs [so npc x mite leave his tavern at la and bcome a miner in a month or two]

dont wants :
>lvling = increased stats or lvling required to wear more uber armor, lvling should not increase power - perhaps lvl can define some other aspect of a players toon [more for prestige], preferably no lvling at all
>lvl/gear based game
>less flexibility and more rigidness in builds, allowing players to hav unique but uselss builds wont cut it either.
>too many classical races ,
>respawning mobs
>boss q's
p.s. not all of the above are reasonable, and im sure ive left stuff out from both lists

Do Want:
-map travel
-Features that can only exist on a multi-player game, such as auction houses, guildhalls, special cooperative pvp mass battles, and a certain amount of persistent explorable areas where one can encounter other players doing their thing.
-Missions that are not simply pass=move forward, fail=repeat till you pass. That always bothers me about gw, it takes away from the immersive quality a lot. I'd like to see missions be critical areas in the plot where the outcome changes the path of the plot. (example, if you don't keep Prince Rurik alive in some mission, he's not in the plot from then on. You get get shuttled to a different plot path along with everyone else who can't keep him alive, and you end up doing slightly different missions from those people who kept him alive. Maybe the paths join up again later on, maybe they never do!)
-low level cap, or at least a point, say level 20, where the hardcore stats like hit points, energy points and attribute points cease to progress. So maybe from 20 onward you get prestige abilities every few levels such as unlockable heroes, elite skills, armour skins, special moves, hair stylist, extra storage etc.
Don't want:
-To be forced to play with others all the time just because the game has multi-player capability. give me the option, and feel free to include some optional instances which can only be tackled with parties, but don't force me to party up all the time.
-real time clock with real time travel times to get places on the map, in order to keep everyone "synchronized"
-to take a break for a month and go back and realize i can no longer play with my friends who are now 25 levels higher and have double my hp, and do double my damage, and don't even gain exp for playing with me anymore.

I think what people are posting here is what they want or do not want to see in GW2, Lone, regardless -- and perhaps even in spite of -- what ArenaNet has stated they intend to do.

--Massive world PvP that exists as a layered instance over-top of the PvE persistent world. Players simply phase into the mists, becoming PvP spirits when view by PvE players. See ideas in GW2 suggestion thread.
Do Not Want:
--Single Skill bar. Multiple skill bars that are mutually exclusive from each other would be far more robust in a persistent world. See Norm Elite skills.
--Levels and the itemization nightmare that ensues, See HG:L
--Content that becomes obsolete because a player levels past it.

You know, I greatly agree with this poster. After thinking about what you have said, and your opinions on the matter, I have to agree. Though I agree more with your idea of a charactor advancement syste, beyond levels, and level caps. A skill learning system which doesn't rely on mostly bought skills, and spells. I have never really liked that idea.
Course, this can, and probably will lead to eliteism. But the more I think about it, titles already lead to eliteism, and the current system has plenty of eliteism. How can it get worse with the desire of expensive uber armour, speicality q7 weapons, etc etc etc. So why not build a system that surrounds those automatic desires?
But I don't know where to start, or what an example could be. So I dunno. :-\

Yeah, basically. What ANet's planning for the game has no real effect on what we'd like to see in it. This thread is just what you want in the game, not necessarily what you think will eventually be in it.
